What is Double Covering Technology with Lycra?

MEERA’s Double Covering Machine produces high-performance covered yarns through a precision dual-layer wrapping system. It feeds a core yarn—Lycra®/Spandex, rubber, glass or carbon fiber, or other filaments—and applies two discrete covering layers to deliver stable stretch, dimensional consistency, and high yarn integrity for both fashion and technical end-uses.

Unlike multi-step lines that need separate machines and rewinding, the CM-500 integrates the process in one double-deck frame with 192 positions. Advanced traverse, tapering, and lip-motion controls build even packages that can go straight to hosiery/knitting. Digital touch-panel control of Lycra elongation, S/Z twist 150–4,500 TPM, spindle speeds up to 16,000 RPM, and programmable RPM/TPM/MPM combine for high output with repeatable quality and lower handling waste.

Typical applications span fashion & hosiery—socks, stockings, leggings, stretch denim, sportswear; technical textiles—safety and cut-resistant gloves, elastic medical bandages, compression wear, industrial elastic fabrics; decorative/fancy—elastic tapes, trims, embroidery effects; and specialty reinforcement—glass- or carbon-covered yarns for composites and engineered fabrics.

Precision Lycra Elongation Control

Our patented elongation control technology manages Lycra tension through digital touch panels, ensuring precise stretch characteristics across all production runs. The system automatically adjusts tension parameters based on material type and denier specifications, eliminating manual guesswork and reducing quality variations.

Integrated Dual Covering Architecture

The innovative four-section design processes core yarn feeding, first twist application, second twist covering, and final takeup sequentially without intermediate handling. This integrated approach eliminates multiple machine setups, reduces material handling costs, and ensures consistent covering tension throughout the entire process.

Intelligent Yarn Break Protection

Triple sensor cutters monitor yarn integrity at core, first twist, and second twist positions simultaneously. When any breakage occurs, the system instantly cuts all related yarns at that position, preventing defective product formation and maintaining overall production quality standards.
